BALLERZ WIN AGAIN!!!
The Axis would have been looking to register their first points of the season when they went up against the Ballerz on the first game on Sunday.
The boys in pink started the game the brightest and had multiple chances to take the lead but were careless in front of goal. The Ballerz were a shadow of the team from last week and found it hard to link up.
With a quarter of the game gone, Axis were rewarded a penalty which Owen Richards converted with ease to give Axis a deserved lead. It went from bad to worse for the Ballerz as ten minutes later Lars Williams poked one in from close range to put the pinks two-nil up.
Ballerz started to settle and with the crowd cheering them on began to push the Axis back, but found Kyle Snow and the Axis defence in great form.
Then from out of nothing, a long ball deep into the Axis penalty area saw the goalie came to punch, but the ball fell kindly to Toure Osborne who chipped it back over the Axis players and into the net.
This goal seem to take Ballerz to the next level and were right back in the game. Ballerz would finish the first half strong but failed to grab their second. First half Axis 2 v 1 Ballerz
The Second half was end to end with both teams out to get the first goal. Axis piled on the pressure but were finding it hard to control the pace of the Ballerz counter attack with Shaquille Benjamin, Ethan Harris and Toure Osborne causing problems at the back for the pinks. With twenty minutes gone, a brilliant through ball forward found it's way to Toure Osborne who out paced the Axis defence and with only the goalie to beat, slotted the ball home nicely for the equaliser.
This is also Toure's debut season, with his two goals and his overall performance he was rewarded with the man of the match.
So with the scores level it was anyones game to win. Both teams were battling it out in midfield with Axis still that bit careless in front of goal. Their missed chances would come back to haunt them, with another nice through ball played forward by Ballerz, Toure was hunting it down for his hat-trick. Axis goalie came rushing out, got to the ball first, but saw his clearance rebound back of his own defender and flew back into his net. Wild celebrations followed as Ballerz had turn the game around after being two-nil down, found themselves three-two up.
The last fifteen minutes saw Axis throw everything they had but time eventually ran out, the win would see Ballerz go second in the table only to goal difference with two wins from two. Brilliant start boys keep it up.
